Wikipedia as achievement catalog
Wikipedia might be a good way of cataloguing what people in our community have been up to. It has disadvantages, of course - people, companies, events, etc. can only be included if they're "notable" (ie. have been discussed in a substantial way in multiple, reliable, secondary sources), so eg. neither you nor me would qualify. However, it is very widely read and highly-ranked by Google, and the Wikipedia community will give us (limited) assistance in keeping things clean and up-to-date.
Articles I have personally created:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Deming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spencer_Greenberg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jade_Wang https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Dalrymple_%28computer_scientist%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Methods_of_Rationality https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_Area_Renters_Federation
Articles for cool things that are connected to our community, but (AFAICT) aren't discussed very much among the CFAR and/or EA crowds:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stik.com https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danielle_Fong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Putman_%28scientist%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foresight_Institute https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Boyden https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomiku https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SunSaluter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randal_A._Koene https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jurvetson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patri_Friedman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Weinstein https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrey_de_Grey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramez_Naam https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Gaverick_Matheny https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Hellman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Frenkel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Storrs_Hall
Articles that, IMO, ought to be created. I've pre-screened these for notability:
Bellroy (Matt Fallshaw) Alexander Wissner-Gross CodeCombat (Nick Winter) UpToke (Jason Levin) Tom Currier Alon Levy Heather Knight Razib Khan Jim Rutt Halcyon Molecular (Michael Andregg)
